Some of you may be wondering how many Rainbow Sash Movement members, together with their "allies and friends", attended the 10:30am Mass at Westminster Cathedral yesterday (please see the various posts below). Well, having just spoken with one of the security team at the Cathedral, I can now reveal that NO sash demonstrators turned up! In fact, no-one was seen wearing a sash, or doing anything particularly out of the ordinary.
We can safely assume, therefore, that this gay pressure-group has no influence, whatsoever, in the UK. Having said that, it may have been the case that all the members had an en masse conversion of heart - realising the error of their rebellion!? It might also be the case that the RSM only has one or two vocal members, who couldn't be bothered to travel to Westminster? Of course, let's not forget that the whole thing might just have been a silly publicity stunt by the Chicago based RSM.
Whatever the reasons behind the complete lack of demonstrators, we can be sure of the fact that the vast majority of Catholics who have to carry the cross of homosexual temptations are more than happy to attend Mass like everyone else. They do not want special dispensations from sin, or special "ghettoised" services - segregated from the whole community of believers. They just want the graces of the sacraments and the space to worship God, like all of us other confused and fragile sinners that walk the earth.
The Spirit really does blow wherever He wills. He is also our best advocate and defence, and can easily blow away the chaff of this world if we ask Him to - when we turn to Him in prayer.
* From the poem The Quaker Graveyard in Nantucket by Robert Lowell - which refers to the story of Noah, and God's promise, using the rainbow as a sign of His covenant with men, that he would never again flood the whole earth. The rainbow, therefore, is a symbol of the Lord's mercy and compassion towards a fallen and sinful people.
Not that I have become perfect yet: I have not yet won, but I am still running, trying to capture the prize for which Christ Jesus captured me. I can assure you my brothers, I am far from thinking that I have already won. All I can say is that I forget the past and I strain ahead for what is still to come; I am racing for the finish, for the prize to which God calls us upwards to receive in Christ Jesus. (Phil 3:13-14)

What marvelous news
ReplyDeleteWell they didn't need to go to Westminster Cathedral to prove a point, as self-confessed openly practising homosexuals are given Holy Communion at Our Lady of the Assumption & St Gregory church in Warwick Street, Soho, on the first and third Sundays of every month. Archbishop Nichols is quite aware of this fact, but chooses to let the scandal continue. If you don't believe me, see the Soho Masses Pastoral Council website www.sohomasses.com
ReplyDeleteDeo Gratias!
ReplyDeleteI am fairly certain that there are a lot fewer of these people than they like us to think.
@ Simon Peter and Patricius
ReplyDeleteYes, good news, indeed - and proof that there is no reason for the Church to take these characters seriously.
@ Pat
I have heard that not that many attend those Masses. We can only hope and pray that the Archbishop realises that there's no need for them, and that, in fact, they have proven to be divisive and, some would say, quite scandalous. Lots of tourists go to that Church - one wonders what they would think if they happened upon these events!
I think the Diocese should sponsor events that encourage chastity and purity - not a politics based upon irregular sex!
I'm very pleased at the failure of this stunt, which was always an appalling idea.
ReplyDeleteBut I also wanted to thank you for your charity towards obedient Catholics who carry the cross of homosexuality. Your third paragraph is spot on. I hope others can remember this.
The blessings of the Holy Spirit this Pentecost allowed me to attend Mass at Our Lady of the Angels, the Catholic Parish Church for Erith, Belvedere, Northumberland Heath, Barnehurst and Slade Green. We came together to pray, praise God and to share in the work of building a community that is warm, outgoing and truly Christian.
ReplyDeleteJack Merrifield is our Churches Together in Erith representive, and we discussed the Rainbow Sash protest briefly as Jack collected money for the Papal Visit.
As 'Vesper', a poor green man from Deptford Church Street, I recorded a CD titled 'Songs & Dreams for Sad Sister Deptford' in the Art Room at Deptford Reach. The work was also recorded for the National Theatre's Box Clever Urban Voices at the Albany Theatre in Deptford.
Two of the songs from my CD's are truly SOS Rainbow 999 symbolism without the sash!
Songs And Dreams For Sad Sister Deptford Part 4
Doveys Folk Promise
Jesus Christ your words are heard.
The empty hearths ignite.
Peace is born to man again.
Ahriman's last fight.
Rainbow visions do I see.
Dante's dream afire.
Seven candles burning bright.
The ending of the liar.
Light returns to illumine us.
Darkness fades away.
The dove of heaven returns again.
And joy has come to stay.
Ending of a phase.
Life begins anew.
All together as God's plan.
The prophets words are true.
Songs And Dreams For Sad Sister Deptford : Part 5
A SINNER'S DREAM OF MARY
When I was out a wandering upon the hills so green.
I spied myself a vision of a bright celestial Queen.
(Refrain)
A rosary,a rosary with rainbows all around.
A blood red cross she gave to me upon that hallowed ground.
She wore a crown of silver and in her arms she bore.
A child who was the future of mans peace and not of war.
(Refrain)
A rosary,a rosary with rainbows all around.
A blood red cross she gave to me upon that hallowed ground.
Corpus Christi woman was the lady that I saw.
Build inside she said to me mans inner self once more.
(Refrain)
A rosary,a rosary with rainbows all around.
A blood red cross she gave to me upon that hallowed ground.
What exactly is the logic behind the existence of the Warwick Street Masses? Was it agreed upon because the bishops want to protect the faithful from homosexuals, so segregation is believed to be the best way forward? Perhaps they believe that HIV can be spread through airborne contagion, or by exchanging the sign of peace, so these sort of people must be quarantined from the rest of us through provision being made for a Mass of their own? If so, the motives of the bishops' are very fatherly, but whatever their reasoning, by allowing this Mass to continue they are continuing to sanction the very great evil of sacriligious Communions made by those who condone, seek or participate in homosexual practice of any kind.
