The meeting of the Guild of Blessed Titus Brandsma will be held on Saturday 1 October 2011 at Our Lady of the Rosary (Blackfen), 330a Burnt Oak Lane, Sidcup, Kent DA15 8LW. The day will begin with High Mass (EF) at 10:30am, during which at least two clerical members of the Guild will serve as Sacred Ministers. Afterwards, Fr Tim Finigan will give a talk before lunch in the parish hall, which will be kindly provided (donations may be offered). The Guild then will meet (relatively informally) at 1:40pm to discuss its aims and mission, as well as any other matters arising from its preliminary meeting, which was held in May. At 2:30pm, Guild members are invited to join the parish in celebrating Solemn First Vespers of the Anniversary of the Dedication of the Church, which will be followed by Benediction. Of course, Mass, Vespers and Fr Finigan's Talk are parish events, open to all.Any Catholic who uses social media - blogging, Facebook, YouTube and the like - is more than welcome to join the Guild of Blessed Titus Brandsma. It is a group specifically for those who engage online with the world, other faiths, philosophies or Christians. One of its principal aims is to support members in their desire to promote the Gospel and to help them deepen their spirituality in the face of the many trials and temptations that arise as a result of being present on the Web. In that sense, the Guild of Blessed Titus Brandsma is a response to Pope Benedict XVI's call for a truly Christian witness on the internet, as voiced recently in his Message for the 45th World Communication Day ("Truth, Proclamation and Authenticity of Life in the Digital Age").
Membership of the Guild is free and details on how to join may be found on the Guild of Blessed Titus Brandsma blog. Those members wishing to write posts for the Guild blog are required to abide by two rules only - the first being that posts remain faithful to the Church's magisterium and the second being that any personal insults or overly controversial or uncharitable remarks should be avoided.
Blessed Titus Brandsma was chosen as our patron, thanks to an inspirational suggestion made by Fr Tim Finigan. It is really wonderful to have such a courageous and loving witness to the Gospel as our heavenly mentor. Those wanting to know more about Bl Titus might like to read this short post on his life.

At Mayor Boris Johnson's Talk London event at Bexleyheath School, Kent DA6 7DA on the 21st July 2011, I worked the floor from 6.00 to 6.55 pm, and I completely saw off the insane neo-Nazi planners, led by the former BNP Police spokesman Michael Barnbrook, when I gave a hard copy of my thread of emails addressed to Johann Alexander the FA's PR Manager ( which represented the contemporary product of my FOOTBALL AGAINST RACISM IN EUROPE 1991-2011 City Challenge/Thames Gateway development casework) to Dave Stringer the new Met Police Borough Commander in Bexley,and I took the opportunity to tell Mr Stringer that Johann Alexander the FA's PR Manager was a great contact. My best FARE endeavours preceded the neo-Nazi atrocities that occured in Norway the following day.

"LONDON UNITED WILL NEVER BE DIVIDED" were the words that I chanted to my MP David Evennett when I met him at Hall Place in Bexley last Friday, and I think he agreed as we had just been discussing the proposals to move electoral boundaries here in London yet AGAIN.
A piece of God's planning that I love, is the synchronicity of combining your event at Blackfen on the 1st October 2011, with the BIG Blessed Sacrament Procession to celebrate the first Anniversary of the Beatification of BL John Henry Newman, and the 2010 visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Britain, the procession starts at Westminster Cathedral at 1:15p.m
